The Staff Team

During her freshman year at Virginia Tech, Kathie got involved in Cru and grew in her faith as she saw other students living with Christ at the center of their lives. After graduating, she went to Estonia for a one-year internship with Cru. One year was not long enough and Kathie served in Estonia with Cru for six and a half years. Since returning to the U.S., Kathie has been at Mason as one of the Team Leaders. She enjoys good coffee, real conversations about life and faith, travel, and finding quaint cafes when traveling.

Elise started following Jesus in High School, but her life was transformed at Penn State University when she joined a community that loved Jesus and devoted their lives to Him. She and her college sweetheart, Greg, married in the summer of 2007 and joined staff with Cru the following winter. Since then, Elise has served alongside Greg in many roles at both George Mason University and their alma mater. Sadly, in December of 2020, Greg went home to be with Jesus. Elise continues to devote her life to following Jesus, investing in college students, and raising their son whom she adores. She is passionate about helping students experience the love and grace of Jesus. She also serves in other capacities in Cru. She also enjoys spending time outdoors, reading and discussing good books, riding horses, exploring new places, and writing about faith and grief.

Michael, a Mason alumni, has been serving with Cru at GMU since graduating in 2014. Michael was involved in Mason Cru in college, where God captured his heart for discipleship and sharing the good news of Jesus to a lost generation and has been serving with Cru ever since. Maggie graduated from Slippery Rock University in 2016, where she accepted Christ as a freshman and ultimately felt the Lord leading her into serving with Cru as a full-time missionary. Maggie served with Cru in Northwestern PA for 3 years before her and Michael got married and moved to Fairfax to be at Mason. The two of them love serving in ministry together, but also love board games, eating and cooking good food, watching movies, and spending time with friends and family. However, nothing brings them more joy than sharing the life and hope that Jesus brings to people who don't know Him.

Grace (the girl one) transferred to Mason her junior year seeking Christian community and found that in Cru. She felt called to campus ministry after being poured into by many people in the field throughout high school and college, and growing in her faith through her involvement with Cru. After graduating and marrying her husband, Ryan, Grace joined the Mason team. Some of her favorite things are Jesus, spending time with old and new friends, helping people grow in their faith, running, and popcorn. Ryan also volunteers with Mason Cru through discipleship and coaching the worship team. 

You probably won’t see Bridget in green and gold very often but she really loves GMU! It was at GMU that she studied Global and Community Health and graduated in 2018. It was also during her Freshman year that she was blown away by the realization that God knew her fully and yet loved her unconditionally. Finally at the start of her Sophomore year she put her trust in Jesus and started a personal relationship with God.  Right after graduating, she had the privilege of interning with Cru in East Asia. Then she came back to intern at Mason before joining Cru long term! In her free time she enjoys hiking, being with friends, and playing board games.

Laura has a passion to walk along-side athletes and coaches in their faith journey, to encourage them and to empower them to share the truth. Laura is a native Northern Virginian and graduated from McLean High School and went on to graduate from Virginia Tech. Laura and Bill have been married since 1983. They have 4 adult children. Their passion to be in ministry has been passed on to their children and it has been a blessing to serve together. Laura is excited to join the campus team at George Mason University. She brings to the team years of organizational skills and experiences as full-time ministry staff, as church youth ministry staff and as a homeschooling Mom.

Kevin began his journey with Mason Cru community in spring of 2010, when a friend of his who was a current student invited him out to a weekly meeting. With four weeks left in the semester, Kevin continued to come out to meetings, build relationships with students and staff, which has led to his current involvement with the staff team. Kevin greatly enjoys JESUS, and seeing students’ lives changed by HIM. In addition to this he also enjoys deep conversations on faith, life, and more. In that same vein Kevin is all about being intentional with the various relationships he has and continues to build. Kevin is also an avid reader, music listener and concert goer, and greatly enjoys the preforming arts. He is also deeply passionate about seeing the transformational power of THE GOSPEL OF JESUS, on the journey of discipleship. There’s more to him than that, but you will have to meet him to find out!
